Phillipines: Seeds of Hope
The SAN FRANCISCO COSMOPOLITAN LIONS CLUB, where Lifesavers Ambassador Baylan Megino is Club Secretary submitted "Seeds of Hope: Gardening for food in the Philippines,” the project won 1st place in the Lions District 4-C4 Short Film Festival, Hunger Project category - for DG Lion Dr. Jun Valera!
Thank you to One World Institute Director and Assistant Global VP-Special Projects Lifesavers Ambassador Baylan Megino and Yolanda Ortega Stern for letting us partner with them to serve and empower food sustainability for now almost 165,000 gardeners (and their families) in the Philippines.
Lion Tess Martin runs the project which initially sent heirloom seeds from the U.S. then trained on organic gardening practices. The group has mushroomed from 19,000 gardeners in June 2021 to 164,000 gardeners in May 2022.
They are sharing/selling seeds and produce. and creating community seedbanks.
